30 days of crochet

Sorry i should have posted this at the beginning of June here we are now halfway through the month.

I've been following 30 days of crochet  on esshaych' blog (pop over now and have a look) The questions, all crochet related of course, are very interesting as they make you think about your crochet projects. Some I have had an answer for straight away and others I've had to think about and go back to later on.

Its all due to Sarah that I started my blog and of course my love for crochet.


I'm long overdue for showing you some of my projects so here goes

 This is one of my stash baskets and I loved it so much i gave it to my youngest Daughter for her birthday. Don't worry Eldest Daughter I will start one for you in time for your birthday. lol.

I love the texture that this stitch gives so simple to do but so effective

and using more variegated cotton yarn I have see similar baskets in Ikea but they didn't have a flower on them (shame)

This is a scarf/shawl and I got the idea from here

The pattern took a bit of getting used to, couldn't get it into my head straight away, i had to frog it a few times before i was satisfied. The wool I used was a sock 4ply and i love the variegated colours. I don't know If I'll ever wear it But it was fun to do

and i really should get it more organized into colours, types etc instead of just filling any available spaces, and maybe not to buy any more yarn for at least a week.

problems??

Hi all
I don't know whether anyone else has had any problems with blogger
its been very annoying not being able to catch up with everyone hopefully things are back to normal now

My bookcases are up and full I just need to sort all my books out into some kind of order now
hope you like them Petty Writer.

Looking good i think and theres still room left for new books (but don't tell hubby).

Although i have already showed this flower blanket here it is again

with a few more flowers attached.

My plan was to make it large enough to cover a double bed but I think its ok once I've attached the few remaining ones and I'll leave it as it is.

I quite like looking at it on the settee and if it was on the bed i wouldn't get to look at it as often.

I've also got another project on the go

I came across this lovely shawl

and I had to get some yarn and start making it straight away

although the yarn i bought is not as nice as this it is still turning out good.

You will be missing out if you don't visit this blog some great ideas and lovely photos.

As promised, here are photos of my library

Shocking amount of books

I was going to do a "guess how many"

but didn't have the inclination to count them all.

Its frightening to I think of how much money has been spent on these.

If I say approx £3 each and maybe 300 books

that comes to a small fortune.

Some are going to charity but I can't bear to be parted from all of them

so a trip to Ikea was called for.

Look at what I spotted and hasn't it come in handy

Don't they look cute makes a change from them cluttering the fireplace up

All they need now is a nice comfy cushion to sit on.

They will live in my study once the bookcases are up.

So here is Hep Cat

all finished apart from his tail

I think he looks French with his beret on

Any suggestions for a name ?

I think he's had a few glasses of wine, he needed my help in sitting up.

And here is Benny

Nearly finished

I love the pastel shades that P chose

I think he looks a bit like Robin (out of batman and robin)

With a mask for his eyes poor thing and no mouth.

What is it about finishing faces?

He will be finished by the end of this week I promise

a bit like my bookcases lol

This is our next project

This is my first bambi which I gave away

As I do with most of my projects

So now bambi no2  is on my to do list.

Off now to do the ironing

 I did think about a posting a picture of my ironing pile but who would find that interesting?

If i could just show a picture and then miraculously the ironing would be done hurrah

crochet companion

Apologies for not posting sooner, I've been too involved with my crochet,
and thanks to you who have left me a comment i do appreciate your time reading my simple blog.

What do you think of my crochet companion

Introducing my almost 3 year old grandson.

He picked this book up and became so interested in it comparing my Strawbeary and Punk Bunny with the photos in the book

He wanted to help make the Monkey and picked the colours we are to use

I had no choice but to start making
Monkey straight away

He is such a cutie

This is my Hep Cat I really should have finished him first but hey ho.

Here are some pot holders I've made. I couldn't believe how easy these were to make up and so effective.

I tried selling them at a car boot but nobody were interested and even then they would have only wanted to pay 10p for them, but they will make great gifts

Perhaps a car boot was the wrong place to show them off.

I was going to post some photos of my ' libray '

but maybe next time.

I am itching to get back to my crochet again

easter chicks

Nearly a month since my last post, shame on me.
I've been lazy on the blogging front but not on the crochet.
So many good blogs out there I have enjoyed reading everybody elses.
Shall I show you what I've been doing?


With Easter close by I couldn't resist making these so my Flower Bed blanket is on hold.

very easy to follow with lots of clear photos and tips

highly recommended

 A egg and a new born chick

this chick is just emerging from his egg

I added a drawstring to the bottom and I am going to fill the egg with chocolate goodies.

So pleased with how they have turned out.

Now what shall my next project be?

Oh I have also crocheted some turtle soap savers

again very easy and quick to make up.

I gave them away as presents before I had the chance to photo them.

So So funny I just want everyone to have a laugh

york and appy feet

hi all
just come back from a few days away in York in our caravan of course.
Treated my hubby to a session at Appy Feet . For those of you who don't know this is where you sit with your feet in a fish tank and all the fish nibbles at the hard skin on your feet hence the photo of the fish.

It is a strange feeling, first instinct is to lift your feet up for the tickling to stop.
The results are very good highly recommended.




Didn't do much crocheting, lots of reading. but i did get to make this fringe, from a pattern in my new crochet book, so simple but so effective.

Now the question is what can I use it for ?

I could use it as a border for my Flower bed blanket But that will take ages and goodness knows how much wool I will need.

I finished reading My Sisters Keeper , a brilliant story, a shocking ending, If you can call it shocking, a great read.
 Pity we aren't in York in April because the author is doing a book signing at Waterstones.

book signing

To celebrate World Book week I dragged my hubby to a book signing and talk at Waterstones Doncaster.
Never having been to any of these before we arrived quite early expecting a queue, we were the first there.
We were given a free book Beloved by Vintage Morrison (all free books gratefully received)
Four authors attended, among them Ian Clayton who's book Our Billie has been on my wish list ever since it was published.
He gave a short talk on his other re published book Bringing It All Back Home
( the perfect book for anybody who defined their life through music and the memories of their youth) Joanne Harris
I bought two Billie Books one for myself and the other for my sister-in -law and Ian kindly signed them both.

One of the other authors was Stephen Wade who talked about his experiences.

I bought Foul Deeds and Suspicious Deaths in and around Doncaster for my hubby to read next week while we are away in our caravan.

A very enjoyable night out getting to meet Ian Clayton, buying new (signed) books and also my hubby buying me a new crochet book.

flowers

hi I've just been over to post on the flower bed if you haven't already,  go and visit now to view some amazing flowers and if its not too late for you to join in the fun.

These are the flowers i experimented with for my blanket, but I wasn't happy with them, I'll keep them tho for coasters or something.
Wasn't too sure about the colours and the size.

I finally crocheted one that I am quite happy with so had to make another two and join them together, now I have decided on the colour combination i am going with (I think)
This is the start of my Flowerbed Blanket which, when finished, is going everywhere with us, in our caravan.

Once again the pictures don't really justify the colour ,but this is it.


also do you like the basket I crocheted to put my wip in ?
I was thinking about decorating the outside of it but it looks good as it is

Okay off to do the dreaded Ironing as we are going to York next weekend for a few days in our caravan (first outing this year)

Plan to  crochet plenty more flowers while I am there, only don't tell the hubby
