A blogging milestone

I,ve a blogging milestone coming up soon and feel I should celebrate it by having a giveaway , what do you think ??

My milestone is not 200 posts , a long way to go yet , as I'm only doing one post a month , but that I am about to reach 20,000 page views , which considering my (sometimes neglected ) blog , I think is a big achievement .

I know this amount will appear small compared to loads of lovely and very popular blogs I read , but I find it astounding that my blog has been viewed 20,000 times.

So, how shall I celebrate , answers gratefully received .

On another celebratory note, I collected my books for giving away on World Book Night , and here they all are , signed and ready to be given.

April fool

A bit late for April fools , but better late than never

What have I been up to ? Not a lot I'm afraid

A newly finished baby blanket and caps to match , took me longer than I would have wished , but finally pleased with the result , I' m not fond of using one colour , I find it too boring but loved the bobble stitch and the resulting thickness of the blanket. I' ve no idea on the size of the caps , hopefully they will fit the newborn albeit only for a short while.

 

I celebrated a birthday in March , and spent a few enjoyable days in our caravan , the weather was glorious , we could have been anywhere , a nice and peaceful week , treated myself to some pampering .

We went to the cinema to see The Book Thief , loved the film , it was a very good adaptation from the book, if you recall, I choose the book to give away to celebrate world book night and again I've been accepted as a giver for this year.

My chosen book is Today, everything changes by Andy McNab , we went to see him giving a talk at a book signing and he was very good . My second choice was The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas , it became a mission to obtain this book, so numerous visits to charity shops later , I managed to buy a copy and read it that same day , couldn't put it down , what a story, I would highly recommend it , even though I was traumatised by the ending , the film is on TV this week , so tissues will be on hand.

Also while in our caravan , I accepted a challenge to make tea cosies for a good course and these are what I came up with.

My intention was to make one similar to the second one above , a pattern out of Cute & Easy Crochet by Nicki Trench which although I didn't quite achieve , it was fun trying , I think I'm all teapot ed out now .

I have a confession to make , one of cosies was bought along with a teapot , I was tempted to keep it myself , but let it go , can you spot the bought one ???

I actually made six in total but in the photo there is only five , the other one must be hiding .

A lovely surprise was waiting for me when I got home.

As a Thankyou to Steph I sent her a crocheted cat and some pencils with crocheted toppers , which are fun to do.

I also entered a giveaway for a book , from Tracy over at Petty Witter, and to my great surprise I won a copy of In Bloom by Matthew Crow .

My copy came directly from the publishers and has a orange cover , my review of this will be in my next post ( hopefully) .

Roll on Easter when we are again off on our caravan jaunts .

Spring into March

Well March had finally arrived , thank goodness , a couple of reasons to celebrate March, one I,m keeping quiet about , two, I have a week off work and we are going away in our caravan ,yippee

Do you like the daffodils , my mum bought me them ,

We should have gone for a long valentines weekend but due to the rain we had to cancel as the field was waterlogged , this time we are definately going not even snow will stop us.

I,ve been doing a few bits of crochet , but can't show the photos yet, I,ve started another baby blanket , the parents who had the last one wanted one all blue , and you can't do a granny blanket in one colour ( or can you) so I choose to use a bobble stitch and although I like the look of it , it's hard going

I,ve also dabbled with some more wet felting , I think I'm finally getting the hang of it , the ideas are limitless , once you've got the basic idea and it's very addictive , wet felted bowls anyone ?

I started another one yesterday , and wanted to make this one bigger

I,m on the final book of the Harry potter readathon , and it will be a great wrench to finish them , although you want to finish reading them you want to take your time also, does that make sense ?

I had to share this photo of my grandson meeting Hagrid and Harry Potter, wish I could have been there. He might look a bit old to have a teddy bear but it was his turn to have the school mascot, called Patrick and this photo will be going in Patricks diary.

I treated myself to two new crochet hooks , aren't they great , they are made by little boo yarns and sold by sconch textiles

I had a dabble with some fimo and made one of my own , but plenty of practice needed here , I'm afraid , it was fun though

Wet felting

Today I have spent a pleasant 4 hours attending a wet felting workshop,

A nice start to Febuary.

Having dabbled in needle felting , not very successfully , i tried wet felting,

Bought a kit for felted balls from Yarndale , loads of fun , but I wanted to attempt something more 3 dimensional.

When this workshop was announced I was keen to go , the cost of £27 , slightly put me off , but why not spoil youself.

I took the last place on the course and thoroughly enjoyed it,

It was held at Knit and Stich in Doncaster, all materials and refreshments supplied

Preparation is important before introducing soap and water

I was surprised at how much merino tops you actually use ,

Quite a lot of hard work goes into the rolling process to create the felting

 

And eventually ,this is what you end up with

It was amazing how everyone's bowl were so different , we each had our own design and colour , they are unique

I'd highly recommend these workshops , it good to get a hands on experience with other like minded people , now a visit to Wentworth garden centre is a must to buy extra supplies

What else have been upto in January? Not a lot , only another crocheted baby blanket , they are very addictive. Found out it is going to be a boy , hence the blue border , I imagine it would have looked so different with a pink border.
